We had a couple families over a couple weeks ago and I wanted to do a craft with the kids so I decided to do bunny ears. All of the ears I saw online were just pain paper ones and I wanted to do something a little different so we covered them in felt. We were just going to do them white but we decided to let the kids choose what color of ears that they wanted. They turned out really cute and Caleb loves to wear his ears.

Caleb's Easter Basket

Caleb was so excited to get his basket on Sunday. We got him tons of candy, and a few toys to play with. His favorite toy of course was the puzzle. Caleb is addicted to puzzles.

These are some of the eggs that we dyed this year. We had some friends over and they helped dye some of the eggs and then Reuben and I dyed some of the cool colored eggs. Some of them turned out pretty cool!

My Valentine's Day!

So, these are some of the things that daddy and Caleb got me for Valentine's Day this year. Reuben went out and got me a CD and a DVD with a thing of roses and chocolate. Then he took Caleb shopping for me and Caleb got me the mixed arrangement of flowers, the cutest card in the world, when you open the card it makes kissing noises. Then he also picked out the teddy bear and a heart necklace. I loved all my presents!

Trick or Treat!

Caleb had a blast trick or treating. I swear that kid must have got around 5 lbs of candy. So, we hit the trunk or treats on Saturday, and then on Sunday we took him trick or treating. Both days we went with the Hollaways. On Sunday we took the kids around Fruitland. We went to two different areas and we just let the kids out of the car and they would house hop while we followed behind. It was sooo cute to watch Caleb he would run up to a house yell trick or treat! and then he would squeal and run to the next house. Of course since he ran most of the time, he was worn out by the time we finished. But as you can see by the picture with his bag, he got a tun of candy. More than what he needs that's for sure. He could barely lift his bag. Anyway, my little Iron Man was so cute this Halloween. I can't wait for next year!

Trunk or Treat

On Saturday we invited our friends the Hollaways to go trunk or treating with us. There were some pretty neat cars set up at the church. There was one family in our ward that was very creative this year. They turned their truck into a cemetary and they had a skeleton set up so that if they pulled a string the skeleton would stand up and if they pulled another string a corpse would rise out of a coffin. It was a pretty neat set up. Anyway, here is a picture of it. They had a few different activities set up. They had apple bobbing, a cake walk, and a donut eating contest. After they went around to all the cars there, we decided to go to the one in Fruitland which was incredibly huge! I think most of the town shows up to the trunk or treat. Most of the vehicles had run out of candy by the time we got there, but Caleb and the girls still got quite a bit of candy.

Halloween Party!!

Halloween is my favorite holiday. Some people think I am crazy that Christmas isn't my favorite, but think about it, my birthday, Reuben's birthday, his mom's birthday, no money... plus I just really enjoy Halloween. For one thing I love fall, it's my favorite season. I love the crisp air, and the changing leaves. Second I love decorating for Halloween. Ghosts, pumpkins, witches etc. I don't know, just everything about Halloween is fun. Anyway, since I like Halloween so much I decided to have a Halloween party. We invited friends over and we decorated cookies, carved pumpkins, had chili and just had a great time. Here are some pictures of the group.

Caleb's Dragon Bank!

Daddy decided that he wanted to make Caleb a piggy bank. Reuben's dad has plans already drawn up for different animals like an elephant, panda bear and other animals. Reuben asked Caleb which one he wanted and he said um....DRAGON! We didn't have any plans drawn up for this one so he had to go draw some up. Caleb was so excited that he was getting a dragon bank. So, last night we sat out in Reuben's dad's shop and made this dragon bank for Caleb. We had to wait for the glue to dry so this morning Reuben sat down and painted it. Caleb was sooooo excited to get it. Caleb's been going all around the house finding pennies to stick in bank.

The Calm After the Storm

On Friday we got a really big storm that came through. Here in Payette we got lightning, thunder, rain and wind. The wind really kicked up and it was one strike right after another. Well, in Ontario and Fruitland it got even worse. There was hail the size of good sized marbles, and some that were reported as big as golf balls. I'm really glad that we didn't get hail because it would have ruined my peaches and my garden. But anyway, when things were starting to calm down I started to play the piano and I looked over out the window and saw this sunset. It was incredibly bright. So, enjoy the pictures.

Lagoon Time!

Cari and I took the kids to Lagoon while I was down in Utah for my cousin Marion's wedding. We got there when it opened so that we could get chairs at Lagoon-A-Beach that were in the shade. She has the kids run when they take down the rope and the kids know where good shady spots are. After we got our spots established, we went over to the kiddy rides and let the kids play for a couple hours. Caleb had so much fun. He's just like mommy and daddy, he really likes rides. There was one ride that was like the rocket for adults and it would take us up and drop us. Caleb loved it. After we rode the rides for a while we were getting really hot so we decided to go swimming. They have a lazy river and a little section for the little kids. It had mini water slides and swings and all different things. Caleb had so much fun playing in the water. We were there until 4 pm. Caleb was crying and whining because we had to go home. I knew he would throw a fit. Why wouldn't he? He was having so much fun! Later that night Cari, Blake and I went back so that we could ride the fun rides. We first started out riding the Rattlesnake Rapids. You kinda get wet on this ride but it depends on where you are sitting. After we went on that we ran over to the Rocket. With this ride you can either be shot up like a rocket or they have re-entry which takes you slowly to the top and leaves you there for a few seconds and then drops you. This is the one we went and and wow, it was so much fun. After that we went on the Samurai which twists you around and the seats rock front to back. It whips you around and it was great! My favorite ride of all was called Wicked and wicked it was. It's a regular roller coaster that shoots you straight up and then drops you. This ride only has a lap bar and you also do twisting in this ride. Oh, this one was by far the best ride of all. Well, the Rocket would probably tie. Anyway, it was definitely worth the money, especially with how much Caleb enjoyed it.

The 4th of July!

We had some fireworks that we really didn't want to set off in town so we took them to Reuben's parent's house. Caleb's favorite part which was weird was the smoke bombs. For most of the time Caleb sat on Grandpa's lap curled up under the blanket. Along with watching ours we also watched the neighbors fireworks. The neighbor always has a ton of fireworks and he also likes to blow things up every year. He takes different things such as small freezers and fills them up with propane and then uses a detonator and blows them up. He had some really good explosions this year. His finale shook everything pretty good and you could hear all of the people across the field cheering. I guess they have like 30-40 people come for the 4th every year. I definitely would if I was part of the family. Anyway, it was a very enjoyable 4th this year.

Caleb's First Fishing Trip

We have a pond over by the river down from our house that is really fun to fish out of so we took Caleb out fishing for the first time. Grandma and Grandpa went with us to see him fish for the first time. All day before we went he was asking when we were going to go fishing, he was so excited. Caleb got a Spongebob Square Pants fishing pole for his birthday and ever since he has been asking daddy when he was going to get his license so that they could go fishing. So finally after months and months he got to go fishing and he thoroughly enjoyed it.

New Hair Cut!

So I went today and got my hair done. It was getting way too long for me and my roots were growing out. She put in dark and light high lights and I told her to really go to town on my hair and chop it off. Now it will be a lot faster to get ready.

The Payette River Floods

We have had so much rain around this area that it is creating a lot of flooding. The Payette River has caused houses to flood and roads are closed. The pictures below show some of the damage that the river has created. Luckily we are not anywhere near the flood zone so we weren't affected.

The first picture is a house completely surrounded by water. Luckily for this homeowner they built their house a little higher so that their house didn't flood. The second picture is the barn by the house in the top picture. The last picture is a house that didn't have very good luck. They have water all around their house. I know that if I built my house anywhere near a river it would be built up higher than the ground around it. There were a couple of houses that were built this way and are surviving because of it.

Flooded Roads

These are pictures along Hwy 52 or Sand Hollow Highway. This is the road that I use to take Caleb out to grandma's and grandpa's house in New Plymouth. I came home last night on this Hwy and I probably should have left Reuben's parents house earlier while it was light. All I could see was water on either side of the road. I didn't know there was water on the road and I hit it in the truck going about 50 mph and I just about had a heart attack. I am just glad that I had the truck since it has way more clearance. Anyway, sorry some of these are blurry but it's really hard to take pictures when you are in a moving vehicle. The first picture is the back road into New Plymouth. That road was actually closed down because of the amount of water on the road. There were two spots that had a lot of water on the Hwy. Some parts were about 10 in deep.

So, while we were on the drive taking pictures of the flooded river we saw a really cool sunset. The first two pictures are of the sunset and then the third picture above looked like a beam of light was going across the sky. It looked really cool.

Traumatic Day

What a traumatic day. I went into the bathroom to wash Caleb's hands after his dinner and went to shut off the hot water and the whole stupid handle popped off and water was shooting out just like a fire hydrant. I quickly threw everything out from under the sink so that I could turn the water off and of course it wouldn't budge. I through a towel over the shooting water and directed it mostly into the sink but it still was going everywhere. I ran to the neighbors and he wasn't home to help me so I ran back home and the thought came to me to turn the valve off on the water tank. I did that and the water shut off. By that point the whole bathroom was soaked in water. I called Reuben's dad and he came by and it took pliers and bending the valve to shut it completely off. Man, what a day. At least I'm pretty sure that there won't be any permanent damage.

The Birthday Boy!

Caleb is growing up so fast, he turned 3 this year! He is a very smart kid and we are very proud of him. He can count to 20, he knows a lot of colors and his shapes and he recognizes all the letters in the alphabet. One puzzle that he got for his birthday is Noah's Ark and it has an animal for every letter in the alphabet and he knows which letter goes next. Anyway, it is hard to believe that it has been three years since he was born. We love him very much!

Cars Cake

For Caleb's birthday we decided to go with Cars as his theme. I was going to do a Lightning McQueen cake but then decided to do a race track instead. We tried to recreate the last race so I got lightning McQueen, Chick Hicks and the King and had them racing around the track. Reuben had the awesome idea of putting coconut in the frosting to make grass which was really neat. Anyway, Reuben ended up doing the cake and he did a very good job.

Caleb of course got spoiled for his birthday. The top picture is the track that we got him. The track comes apart so that you can set it up as you like and then the cars take one AA battery and you turn them on and let them go. Caleb absolutely loves it. He also got a bat and ball for outside and a Noah's ark puzzle that he really enjoys. Of course he got other presents but these are just a few.

For Caleb's birthday party we played a couple of games. One game was a guessing game to see how many cars they knew from the Cars movie. Another game we did was a guessing game and they had to guess how many tires were in the jar. I got a glass jar and put as many hot wheels cars in it as a I could and then they had to guess. The party was a blast and we had good company.

Hair Cut

I was really excited because I got to get my hair done today! I am absolutely loving it! I've been going to my hair stylist for 4 or 5 years now and she always does an awesome job. Now it won't take me so long to get ready in the morning ;)

This year we got a little bit more back on taxes since Reuben is a full time student. Since he has been working really hard I told him that anything that we were getting back in taxes because of his schooling he could use for something fun. So, since our TV is starting to get yellow spots on the screen he decided to get a new TV and therefore a new stand. We got a Vizio 47in LDC TV and I got to pick out the stand. Anyway, we are really excited to try it out tonight!

Valentine's Day!

Yesterday I got my Valentine's Day present from Reuben. He got me these really pretty orange roses that had red carnation sprays in them. Reuben knows that I am not a fan of the weird assortments of candy so he got me Dove and Lindt chocolate. It was definitely a good Valentine's Day!

New Church Calling

So this morning I get a phone call and it was the church presidency asking if I could come in a half hour early today so they could talk to me. I am figuring that I am either getting released from a calling or adding another one. So, they ended up giving me a new calling as the choir director for the ward. I am really excited but yet a little scared at the same time because I've never directed a choir before. I know everything will be okay and I am going to really enjoy this calling.

Caleb was a pirate for Halloween this year and he looked incredibly adorable! I'm really surprised that he kept the scarf on his head but I think he was enjoying the outfit. On Friday I took him to the trunk or treat at the church and man was he excited to go to a Halloween party. I guess all day at Grandma and Grandpa Smiths he was asking when the party was. He had a blast!

Pumpking Carving

On Wednesday Chris, a friend of ours, Reuben and I sat down and carved pumpkins. The first pumpkin is mine the second pumpkin is Reuben's and the last one is Chris's. We had a fun time carving them but Chris sure did have problems with his. Once he finally got the top off we realized that it was about 4-5 inches thick throughout the pumpkin. A pie probably could have been made with the lid alone! So, needless to say he couldn't carve enough of the inside out for the light to show through the pumpkin. But it still looks cool anyway!

Yesterday Acacia (Reuben's niece) came over and we went to the Super Saturday (crafts) at the church and then we came back to the house and we decorated cookies. We had tons of fun and thoroughly enjoyed taking our time decorating these cookies. Some are a little morbid but it was so fun! Comfy Caleb

About a week ago I was folding laundry and had just finished folding and putting the clothes in piles on the floor. I decided to go on the computer for a few minutes and when I went back into the living room I found Caleb, his blankets and his doggy all snuggled into the basket. He looked so cute and comfortable! Then Simon decided to join him. Silly Kid.

A Very Bad Day

Reuben and I had a very interesting morning today. I couldn't figure out why Reuben hadn't shown up from work. From what I knew he was coming straight from work. Well, it was about an hour after the time he normally gets home and he still wasn't home. I was starting to get worried so I called his cell and asked him where he was. He told me that he was in a tow truck. I asked him if he had broken down and he said well....sort of. I asked him what that meant and he said that they were almost to the house and that he would talk to me when he got there. Well come to find out he had been in a car accident. He was coming home from work and had just come around a corner on the highway in Fruitland and a lady turned left right in front of him and Reuben ended up t-boning her at 40 mph. As you can see from the picture it smashed in the driver side front part of the car. It actually did more damage to her van than our little Honda. With the lady's van the impact ripped the axle off of the springs and shoved it into the body of the car. Something that was pretty amazing was that a piece of our bumper got shoved between a rim and a tire on her van and the tire was still inflated. Kinda crazy. Anyway, she had a little boy with her and Reuben said that he was a little banged up. His eye immediately began to swell and he probably had whiplash. The paramedics took him to the hospital to get him checked out. Well, this lady saw Reuben coming but thought that she would be able to cross over into the other lane before Reuben got to where she was. Well, that was definitely miss judged. Well, Reuben's back is pretty sore but I think he'll be okay. The Sheriff's department still has to do the paperwork so they said we won't here anything until Monday but the lady was cited. I guess we'll see if they total out the car or repair it. It's old enough and has enough miles that it would be better just to give us the money for what it's worth but I guess we'll see. We'll let you know what happens. You all take care and DRIVE SAFE! Keep an eye out for other drivers!

Our Newest Addition

On Tuesday while I was working Reuben and Caleb came into the store and daddy said that Caleb had something to ask me. Caleb then said "kitty?" I then of course gave daddy a dirty look. They had gone to the pet store to get a fish for our tank and Caleb saw the kittens and just fell in love with the cats. He told Caleb that he had to ask mommy first. Reuben then told me that these cats were only ten dollars but they weren't fixed yet. I love cats and so I said that we could go over together and look at them when I got off of work. We were wanting a male since they are cheaper to fix but there was only one there and I wanted one that had mixed colors so I told Reuben that we could go to the 2nd Chance shelter. We don't particularly like this shelter because they yelled at Reuben when we tried to bring one of our cats. They said "does it look like we have any room?" I think they could've been a little nicer about it. But, I knew that they fixed their kittens and gave them their first set of shots before you take them home so that's why I suggested going there. I know it sounds crazy that we were wanting a cat when we had gotten rid of one of our other cats but we had to get rid of her because she was peeing on everything. We tried everything and she still did it. This is flat out not tolerated in our house. So anyway, this is the kitten that we ended up getting. He is now 12 weeks old and he is so incredibly cute. He's got massive ears, wiry hair and long hair in his ears. I picked this one since he had the coolest markings. The kitten is doing really well and he settled in within a few hours. It took us a couple of days to name him but we finally decided on Simon.

Yesterday while Caleb and I were playing outside he went over to our garden and started picking the tomatoes. I went inside and got a bowl and this is how many tomatoes he picked. He had so much fun and he was a big help!

Steven's Farewell

Two weekends ago Caleb and I went down to Bountiful, Utah for Steven's farewell (my cousin). We all had a blast and we all really enjoyed each others company. On Saturday we went to a pool party at my uncle Randy and aunt Mary's house and they had a BBQ. It was so nice to see family again. It's been quite a while. While I was down there, I was also able to see Cari's new house which was an awesome house. Congrats on the home Cari! So, overall it was a pretty good trip. Good luck Steven!

The Past three nights in a row we have had some incredible thunderstorms. Of course I don't have the best of camera to capture the lightening but oh well, I do the best that I can. Anyway, lightening is one of my favorite things and I was able to catch a few pictures.

Church Calling

So, I thought I would let you all know that I got a new calling at church last Saturday. I am now the primary pianist. I was so excited when they asked me. I've been waiting for three years to have a music calling and I finally got one! They couldn't have put me in a more perfect calling. This is where I've wanted to be for a really long time. I am sad that I'm not teaching anymore though. My kids were disappointed too. I'm going to miss my students and having a real lesson. Oh well, it's worth it. Anyway, I just thought I would share the good news with you all!

Camping Trip

Last weekend we went camping up at Brundage Reservoir up by a place called Sater's Meadow and man the scenery is beautiful. Of course the mosquitoes were bad too but that's why there is bug spray. We went up for three days and we had his parents with us, our friends Chris and Carrie and their two girls and they also brought a friend's two boys with them and we had Lucky another good friend of ours with us. Camping was a blast! Of course not being able to have our four wheeler there was annoying. Idaho just made a law that you have to have a title for your four wheeler now and we don't have one for ours. It wasn't even running when Reuben got it and he didn't think he'd need a title. Oh well, we still had fun. The kids and the men went up fishing and Carrie and I stayed back and watched Caleb and played cards. Mom and dad stayed and relaxed. The food was great, the company was great and it was just nice to get out.

Caleb thoroughly enjoyed the water at camp. When we first got to camp he went and got in the water...with his clothes on. We ended up changing his out fit three times the first day. Of course when I actually got his little swimmer on and went down to the water with him he didn't want to get in past his feet. Oh well, he still had fun.

The entire time at camp Caleb was either playing in the dirt with Chris and Carrie's bug container or he was in the water...whether he had his little swimmers on or not. He was completely covered in dirt the entire time we were camping.

For Chris's birthday last year me and Reuben along with a different Chris gave Chris this slow cooker. It's pretty cool but it cooks more like a stove. It doesn't really slow cook...Anyway, in this picture Chris is cooking meatballs as part of our yummy dinner. Oh ya, Carrie tried to get out of the picture and failed!

Saturday morning Caleb came up the stairs and gave me these pretty roses. Reuben had bought me roses....and for no reason! I was very impressed.

Cari came down for a week and while she was here it was really hard to keep track of the kids, especially my own as you can see from the pictures. In the first picture, Caleb had been outside playing with the boys and came in covered in dirt. I was laughing so hard when I saw him. In the second picture my mom, Cari and I were sitting in the living room and it had been quite a while since we had seen Caleb and I was a little worried. I started calling for him and I started to hear him coming down the stairs whining and the picture that I saw put me on the ground laughing. He had been playing in the cat's tent and got stuck. Ya, the tag says do not allow children to play in this item. He definately lives up to his age.

The Obsession

While Cari was here Kira had an obsession for our cats and Mollie. Everywhere they went she went. She especially followed Molly around. When it was very quiet and we couldn't find Kira nine times out of ten she was at Mollie's kennel sticking her finders in the kennel and Mollie would be licking her fingers and she would be giggling. It was so cute! Mollie is such a good dog. She tolerates pretty much anything. I think Mollie enjoyed all the attention from the kids.

All the kids decided that they wanted to go for a ride on the John Deer powerwheel...all at once. Well, it didn't like the idea of hauling that many kids. So, like I do with Caleb, I took each one around the block once and they thought it was great.

While Cari was here we decided to make a trip to Boise and we went to Julia Davis Park and then right next door is the zoo and so we took the kids there. This park is heaven to me. For those who know me well know that I absolutely love roses and that my favorite color is blue. Guess what color the water in the fountain is.....blue! The first picture is a picture Cari took of the fountain with a special setting on her camera.

The Storm of the Century

Caleb and I had been looking out our window at the lightning and listening to the thunder and we saw a storm cloud heading toward the house moving pretty fast. Once it got closer the wind started to pick up and then it started hailing. The hail was the size of marbles and it was coming down really hard. This is the best storm I have ever seen! Because of this storm we ended up loosing power for an hour. A few hours later we heard that funnel clouds formed out of this storm and so I got on ktvb.com, our local news station, and found this picture that was taken right in our home town of Payette! We had no idea that the storm was going to be that bad, we just thought that it was a really good thunder storm. I guess we were wrong!

This storm put down an inch of marble sized hail in just a few minutes! I have never in my life seen a storm like this. We were afraid that the hail would dent our car but luckily it didn't. This storm however will probably affect the fruit we get off of our peach and apricot trees. The hail was coming down so hard that you couldn't hear your own voice.

Caleb and daddy went to the store yesterday and when he got home I had his Easter basket ready for him and I also had these bunny ears to put on him. Of course he wouldn't keep them on, he kept taking them off and looking at them and then attempting to put them back on, but then he saw his Easter basket and all is attention was on the goodies inside.

For Easter Caleb got a Cars car, camo eggs with jellybeans and m&ms, carrot bubbles, a Spongebob container with candy and chocolate eggs. Of course his favorite part was the bubbles. Caleb loves bubbles!

Caleb was given this power wheel by the parents of our good friends Chris and Carrie and he absolutely loves it! Jessica their daughter drove Caleb around for at least a half hour and he laughed and giggled the whole time! Of course when it was time to come in he wasn't very happy. It is currently sitting in our backyard and everytime he walks by it he wants to go for a ride. Hopefully by the end of summer he will be able to drive it himself.

Caleb's 2nd Birthday!

The theme for Caleb's party was Mickey Mouse since Caleb really likes him. We had Mickey Mouse shaped cheese sandwhiches, all kinds of fruit and Reuben's home-made chili. The party was a lot of fun!

On the Disney site they had an area for a Mickey Mouse birthday party and I printed these hats on my computer and put them together. The kids thought they were pretty fun.

Mickey Cake

For the cake I did a Mickey Mouse face. I used a large round cake pan for the face and a small round glass dish for the ears. I had to bake the ears seperately since I only had one dish. I didn't want to mess up on the face so I traced the cake pan on paper and drew the outline of the face and then cut it out and used that for a stencil. I also got on to the paint program on the computer and made eyes and a nose. I really didn't want to mess up on the cake. I ran into problems while making it but all in all it was really fun to do the cake and it turned out pretty cute.

As Reuben puts it, he made out like a bandit. Caleb got a ton of toys for his birthday. Not that he needs anything... he got a Mickey Mouse raceway, a basketball hoop from grandma, a learning mailbox that he has played with the most and a bunch of other presents.

Pin the Nose On the Mickey

For one of the activities I made a Mickey Mouse face and a bunch of noses and the kids played pin the nose on the Mickey. They all did a really good job. The prizes for the games were Mickey Mouse kites. Of couse we didn't want any body to feel left out and so we gave a kite to each family.

Coloring Activity

One of the activities that the kids did was coloring a picture of mickey. I found a picture on the disney website that had mickey at a birthday party which was perfect. They really enjoyed coloring.
